Geneva (Pro News): French maker Jean-Marie Straub kicked the can immaculately at his home in Switzerland on Sunday, the Swiss National Film Archive pronounced. He was 89 when he died.

During the 1960s, he exited France for Germany, assembling films paired with his then-amigo Daniele Huillet.

Achievements of Straub
Among their most prestigious films are “From the Fogs to the Resistance” (1979) and “Sicilia!” (1999).

“I kept an eye out for Mrs. Straub in the afternoon; he kicked the compartment at 6:00 am actually at his home in Rolle,” on Lake Geneva in western Switzerland, Cinematheque Suisse expert Christophe Bolli told AFP.
“He kicked the compartment serenely in his home.”
