Much-anticipated India vs. Pakistan match in the ICC 50-over World Cup may happen this October-November at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Details
The game would be the first time the two archrivals face on Indian soil since 2016.
The stadium, which has a seating capability of 1 lakh, was chosen in anticipation of several spectators expected to travel from abroad for the match.
Concerning the World Cup schedule
After the Indian Premier League concludes, the BCCI plans to declare the World Cup schedule in a big way.
The tournament will begin on October 5, with matches scheduled in Nagpur, Bengaluru, Trivandrum, Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rajkot, Indore, Bengaluru, and Dharamshala.
However, only seven platforms will host India’s league matches, with Ahmedabad the only venue where the team could play two if they reach the final. Meanwhile, Pakistan and Bangladesh may play many in Chennai, Bengaluru, Guwahati, and Kolkata.
BCCI Allotted the Venue of World Cup Matches
Apart from the match against Pakistan, the BCCI has engaged with the Indian team management to determine their preferences for the other fixtures.
The team has asked the BCCI to schedule games against Australia, England, New Zealand, and South Africa at spin-friendly locations, as they prefer slow wickets to optimize their home advantage.
The state units have already provided the BCCI with their wish list, but the BCCI will finally decide on the match allocation to venues.
The match against Australia may be played in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, while those against New Zealand, England, and South Africa will be at slower-pitch venues.
